In October several dozen people died in landslides caused by small hydropower construction and this triggered Vietnam authorities to announce long-prepared decision to stop mass-development of small hydro. Similar, albeit less dramatic, decision has been made by China four years ago, where many hydropower plants have been demolished in last three years. Temporary dam blocks the entrance into tZaton in Khabarvsk City

Flood in rolling downstream the
mighty Amur-Heilong River.  In
Khabarovsk, authorities completed the construction of a temporary dam in the
Zaton area. A sand construction of 180 meters in length must withstand the
onslaught of the flood, the scale of which exceeded all the most pessimistic
forecasts of hydrologists, but still is 1.5 meters lower than famous flood of
2013.

In Gornozavodsk (Japanese: 内幌町, Naihoro) town on Sakhalin Island, on May 14, 2018 a long anticipated coal-mud flood consumed several buildings  and farms and now creeps towards  the highway and nearby rivers. “TAKING ACTION FOR WATER AND CLIMATE” was held 23-25 October 2017 – Capitoline Palace – Rome, ITALY
