The RusHydro Company – owner of most Russian hydropower dams – is known for considerable idle  capacity at many generation facilities due to placement of large dams in remote unpopulated areas without adequate transmission links with load centers. Recently Russian hydropower plants have been marketing use of their excess energy for Big Data Centers, Hydrogen Production, Spaceship launching facilities, other fancy energy-intensive industries, but so far unsuccessfully.

Notices on cancellation of bids for feasibility studies and environmental assessments on two Baikal -Selenge basin dams were posted on MINIS Project web-site.  This finally signifies that practically ALL  rightful demands consistently voiced by the RwB have been finally honored:
–Consultations in Russia and Mongolia held at 35 locations and have shown that local people have wide spectrum of grave concerns related to proposed projects;

The WB Inspection Panel recognized that 2015 Request for Inspection "had placed the MINIS project on a positive trajectory…"

Finally it is all over! The World Bank Inspection Panel after 2,5 years of close supervision decided not to investigate compliant submitted by Mongolian and Russian citizens concerned with intended feasibility study of Shuren Hydropower and the Orkhon Gobi Water Diversion projects in Lake Baikal Basin.
