According to www.upi.com and many other media the Russian Interior Ministry said that as much as $33.2 million in state funds were embezzled from hydropower company RusHydro. The Interior Ministry said RusHydro’s plant developer Gidrostroy hired companies that had little staff or equipment. It was also said to have signed false contracts with subsidiaries.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment, John Knox assessed how Mongolia is promoting human rights in the context of environmental protection. Knox has stayed in Mongolia since 19 Sep 2017 and met with ministries, lawyers, parliament members and representatives of international and regional organizations. International environmental and civil rights groups are outraged by the Great Khural (Mongolian Parliament) passing amendments  to the Law with the Long Name (LLN) on the last day  of Lunar year.
