As Mongolian Government is steering the discussion about the proposed dams in Lake Baikal – Selenge River basin from energy security to national water crisis it is important for civil society groups and independent researchers to collect and use for good available information on effective water management solutions and efficient water use technologies relevant to Mongolia.

Notices on cancellation of bids for feasibility studies and environmental assessments on two Baikal -Selenge basin dams were posted on MINIS Project web-site.  This finally signifies that practically ALL  rightful demands consistently voiced by the RwB have been finally honored:
–Consultations in Russia and Mongolia held at 35 locations and have shown that local people have wide spectrum of grave concerns related to proposed projects;

New IBRD’s Mongolia Economic Update Report "… takes a closer look at public investment programs implemented over the past five years, which surged until 2015, contributing to large increases in public finance deficits and the public debt. Yesterday, the WB MINIS Project concluded “commenting period” for the “Final Draft Terms of Reference for a Regional Environmental Assessment for the Selenge River basin and Lake Baikal area  in the context of the proposed  Shuren Hydro-power Plant and Orkhon Water Diversion Projects  “(REA  ToR).
